Illini Upsets Iowa, 68-66, Advances in Big Ten Tournament

Two days, make it two wins for the Fighting Illini. The mens basketball team beat 20th ranked Iowa 68-66 on Thursday at the Big Ten tournament in Indianapolis, IN. Illinois the 12th seed in the tournament built a 66-55 lead in the second half, only to have the Hawkeyes go on an 11-0 run to tie the game. Belleville native Malcolm Hill hit the winning shot with just over a minute to play to keep the Illini’s post season hopes alive. Jalen Coleman-Lands led Illinois with 17 points.

Illinois advances to the quarterfinal round on Friday. They will play the Big Ten tournament’s 4th seed Purdue. Tip time should be around 1:30 PM.
