Police identify body found in Mississippi River

COLLINSVILLE, IL (KTVI) – Investigators with the Illinois State Police have identified the body of a man found in the Mississippi River near Venice.

State police said 38-year-old Mickey Heflin’s body was located Saturday and retrieved from the river by the Madison Fire Department.

The Madison County Coroner’s Office has classified Heflin’s death as a drowning case. Toxicology results are still pending.

Anyone with information regarding Heflin’s last known whereabouts is asked to contact the Illinois State Police at 618-589-2335.
