Patriarch of Blunt political family dies

MARSHFIELD, MO (KTVI) – Leroy Blunt, father of U.S. Senator Roy Blunt and grandfather to former Missouri Governor Matt Blunt, died Monday night at an assisted living center in Marshfield. He was 94.

Leroy Blunt died of complications from a stroke he suffered a year ago.

Blunt was a longtime dairy farmer and businessman who served four terms in the state’s general assembly.

Memorial services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Marshfield. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Marshfield Senior Center Building Fund.

Marshfield is located approximately 25 miles northeast of Springfield in Webster County, which is in southwest Missouri.
