WENTZVILLE, MO (KTVI) - New information may be released soon in a Major Case Squad murder investigation in Wentzville. The body of a 26-year-old man was found inside a burning home.

Police identified the victim as Ruben Martinez.

At least 20 Major Case Squad detectives have been working out of the Wentzville Police Department since Sunday morning. Police are being tight lipped about the investigation. They are planning to release more information Tuesday.

Firefighters responded to a fire at a home on south Walnut at 1:30 a.m. Sunday. After putting out the fire, firefighters found Martinez's body inside the home and called police.

Authorities would not say how Martinez died, but reiterated this is a murder investigation. There appears to be no apparent fire damage to the outside of the home.

When Major Case Squad detectives were back at the scene, they were seen going in and out of the back door. It appeared police evidence technicians were also at the home.

About mid afternoon police removed the crime scene tape that had surrounded the home. That move may indicate police are getting some answers in their investigation.

Police say Martinez Llived at the home but did not own it. Other residents of the home were there when authorities arrived.

Police said the victim knew his killer and it was not a random crime. The Major Case Squad said it would have more to say when they hold a news conference Tuesday at 11 a.m..
