Woman stabbed in the throat

ST. LOUIS (KTVI) –  St. Louis police are investigating the stabbing of a 50-year-old woman.  Police say the woman was stabbed in the throat in the area of Lewis and Biddle in North St. Louis.  The victim went to the Lumiere Casino to seek help.

Police arriving on the scene were unable to get a statement from the woman as to how she was injured. The victim was transported to the hospital in critical/unstable condition.

The Circuit Attorney’s Office has issued warrants against Michael Smith, 34, in connection with the stabbing.  He faces charges for assault and armed criminal action.

The probable Cause Statement says the suspect got into an argument with the victim. He stabbed her in the neck with a knife. She had extensive surgery and is currently in critical condition at the hospital.

Smith is currently on parole for multiple counts of burglary and stealing. He was staying at the St. Louis Community Release Center when this incident occoured.
