The Blues have clinched home ice advantage for the first round of the NHL playoffs, thanks to a 2-1 win in Chicago on Thursday night over the Blackhawks. The Blues trailed 1-0 late in the third period when Vladimir Tarasenko scored with 1:16 to play to tie it at 1-1. The game went to overtime and Tarasenko netted the game winner, his 39th goal of the season. The win assures the Blues of no less than a second place finish in the NHL Central division and home ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs. St. Louis has 107 points on the year with one game remaining in the regular season. The Dallas Stars also have 107 points, so the division race comes down to one game. If the Blues beat the Capitals on Saturday night and the Stars lose to the Predators that same evening, the division title belongs to the Blues. If the Stars win on Saturday and the Blues lose, Dallas claims the division crown. So the Blues first round playoff opponent will be the Minnesota Wild if they win the division. If the Blues finish second in the Central division, their opponent will be the Blackhawks.
