ST. LOUIS (KTVI) - The Go! St. Louis Marathon wrapped up in downtown St. Louis Sunday afternoon. The weekend event was expected to attract 25,000 participants and 30,000 visitors.

“We started 16 years ago with just one event, a marathon,” said operations director Mona Langenberg. “Now have 11 events through the weekend.”

Sunday’s runners and visitors came from several different states and even other countries.

Tom Harris lives in California. He made the trip to St. Louis to cheer on his wife.

“Everyone is really friendly here,” said Harris. He said he hoped to catch the Cardinals home opener Monday while visiting St. Louis.

His friend Brooke Buonaccorsi made the trip from Chicago.

“I used to run and it’s just impressive to see the athletes and what they do,” said Buonaccorsi.

“I think this whole weekend is about being healthy and active,” said Langenberg. “It’s an awesome experience.”
