LINCOLN COUNTY, MO (KTVI) – A 59-year-old Old Monroe man was arrested earlier this week for allegedly threatening to kill his stepson, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.

According to a sheriff’s office spokesperson, deputies were called to the 200 block of S. Lindsey Road on April 12 around 6 p.m. for a domestic violence incident involving a firearm.

When deputies arrived at the scene, the victim approached deputies with his four-year-old son and said his stepfather, Rickey Whipple, was chasing them in his vehicle and was armed with a handgun.

Whipple arrived in his vehicle seconds later and became “verbally combative” with deputies. Whipple was ordered out of his truck when deputies noticed a .357 handgun sitting on the dashboard.

The victim told deputies that they were inside Whipple’s home when Whipple became angry and went for his guns, saying he was going to kill the stepson. The victim grabbed his four-year-old son and ran out the house. Before the stepson could leave, Whipple rammed his own truck into the victim’s vehicle.

Investigators said Whipple later told deputies that he planned to kill his stepson and burn the house down.

No one was injured in the incident.

Whipple was arrested at the scene and charged with two counts of second-degree domestic assault, unlawful use of a weapon, and resisting arrest. He remains in custody at a medical facility (unrelated to this particular incident) on a $100,000 cash-only bond.
