ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - It was a split decision for sports fans in St. Louis. St. Louis Blues fans left downtown disappointed Friday night following a 3-2 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks. The St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Cincinnati Reds 14-3, but Cardinals fans were also keeping a close eye on the NHL playoffs.

“When the Blues scored you could hear a cheer,” said one Cardinals fan leaving Busch Stadium Friday night.

The St. Louis Cardinals showed the Blues score live on the baseball team’s new HD scoreboard. Ballpark Village also put the Blues game on the giant screen.

“The 40-foot television will have the Blues game, but we have two 14-foot televisions right next it, so the Cardinals will be on simultaneously,” said Tony Cardonna, Ballpark Village spokesman.

Even though the Blues lost, fans say the series is far from over, and they say Friday night was an example of why St. Louis is a great sports town.

“It’s just a beautiful city, we support our sports teams,” said Evan Young. “These two teams are embracing the city, and you go to support them.”
