Kennett man charged in wife’s killing gets life in prison

KENNETT, Mo. (AP) _ A southeast Missouri man who pleaded guilty in the 2014 fatal shooting of his wife has been sentenced to life in prison.

The Southeast Missourian reports that Allan Branum was sentenced Thursday in the death of Regena Branum on May 22, 2014, in their Kennett home.

Authorities say the shooting occurred during an argument.

Allan Branum had been charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action, which was dropped in exchange for Branum’s guilty plea for second-degree murder.
