Prince fans flock to see Purple Rain after singer’s death

EDWARDSVILLE, IL (KTVI) - Two special showings of Prince's film Purple rain are playing Friday night in Edwardsville at the Wildey Theatre. Tickets have been selling fast.

Purple Rain came out in 1984 and many say it tells Prince's story. It's about a young musician growing up in Minnesota tormented by an abusive situation and the rocky road he facing as he builds his singing career.

The film became the 11th highest grossing film of the year, taking in $70 million. Prince won an Oscar for best original song. The movie soundtrack remains one of the most successful albums in US history.

His loyal fans are still trying to come to grips with his sudden death and come to together with our fans is seeming to bring them comfort.
