ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)- About 80 million adults or roughly one-third of the U.S. adult population have high blood pressure. Most people with high blood pressure do not have any symptoms and can have it for years without knowing it.

But high blood pressure isn`t just one thing. It has a domino effect and is a major risk factor for stroke, heart attack, heart failure and even kidney disease.

Getting control of your blood pressure is a critical preventive action you can take to stop your health from toppling.

Dr. Willie Lawrence of the American Heart Association and Dr. George Bakris of the National Kidney Foundation joined us to discuss the dangers of high blood pressure and give tips on how to lower your blood pressure and improve your overall health and quality of life.
