CREVE COEUR, MO (KTVI)- Know Before You Go: A busy stretch of road in Town and Country near St. Luke's Hospital completely closed this morning for months. Conway Road is closed from Maryville University`s Athletic Field Drive to just west of the Conway Road entrance to St. Luke`s Hospital. The distance of the closure is relatively short but the impact is significant because access to Highway 141 from Conway is now severely restricted.

Drivers are still able to access St. Luke's Hospital coming west on Conway but not from driving east on Conway. Crews are also allowing drivers to get use Conway to get to Maryville University from Highway 141. But there is no thru traffic allowed from Conway to 141.

St. Louis County officials say the closure is needed so crews can remove and replace a 60 year old bridge on Conway Road that runs over Maryville Creek. The bridge is deteriorating and needs to be rebuilt. Close to 9,000 vehicles travel over the bridge every day.

The new bridge will feature two 12 foot wide lanes, one east and the other west, with a four foot wide shoulder on each side.

Additionally, each side of the new bridge will have protected sidewalks.

As it stands now, the bridge has neither shoulders nor sidewalks. To get around the closure, drivers can take either Mason Road or 141 to Ladue road.

The price tag for the project is nearly $900,000.

The road is set to be closed until August 8th.
