Importance of having a will

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)- The first court hearing looking into Prince's estate took place on Monday.  The singer reportedly had no will so by Minnesota state law, his money will likely go to his siblings, some of whom he hasn't seen in more than a decade.

Peter Lazaroff from Plancorp joined us to discuss the importance of having a will.

According to Lazaroff, the will gives you to control over your assets, property and minor children.  He also shared five estate documents you should have.

5 estate documents you should have:
1. Durable power of attorney
2. Advanced medical directives
3. Will
4. Letter of instruction
5. Living trust
