ST. ROBERT,  MO (KTVI) - First Lady Michelle Obama and Doctor Jill Biden visited Fort Leonard Wood on Tuesday. Their stop was one of several stops on military bases across the country to celebrate the anniversary of Joining Forces, which the two women started five years ago and which calls on all Americans, in both the public and private sectors, to rally around service members, veterans, and their families and support them through employment, education, and wellness opportunities.

They were joined by Reading Rainbow host Levar Burton during their visit. He was there for a story time event with students on post at Thayer Elementary School.  A surprise guest at the event was retired Astronaut Mark Kelly. He and Dr. Biden read Mousetronaut,  a children's book written by Kelly and released in 2012.
