ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - The city of St. Louis will pay homage to playwright Tennessee Williams with a festival this month. The inaugural celebration kicks off May 11th and runs through the 15th at locations in Grand Center and the Central West End.

Williams' family moved to St. Louis when he was eight. He attended the Eugene Field School, Soldan High, University City High, the University of Missouri in Columbia, the University of Iowa, and Washington University.

Highlights from this new festival include a Hirschfeld Exhibition Unveiling and an evening with actress Olympia Dukakis, who has starred in many productions of Williams' plays. With a focus on St. Louis, the festival will offer something for all tastes - theatre productions, films, a visual art exhibition, readings, panel discussions, a tour , and live music.

Tickets are available through MetroTix.
