Cardinals blast 3 homers, Leake shuts down Diamondbacks 6-2

Jedd Gyorko, Matt Adams and Yadier Molina homered and Mike Leake pitched seven scoreless innings and the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-2 on Saturday afternoon at Busch Stadium. Leake (3-3) threw seven shutout innings to get the win. It's Leake's third straight victory and first at Busch Stadium. home since signing with the Cardinals as a free agent this offseason. During that span, Leake has a 0.85 ERA. The Cardinals offense was power by the three previously mentioned home runs. Gyorko hit his 5th home run of the season in the 2nd inning to give the Cardinals a 2-0 lead. Matt Adams added a solo homer in the 6th inning, his 4th of the season to make it 3-0 Cards. Yadier Molina knocked out his first home run of the 2016 season, a two run blast that gave the Cards a 5-0 lead. The only disturbing element of the Redbirds win was the continued ineffectiveness of closer Trevor Rosenthal. He came in to get an inning of work in the 9th inning and surrendered two runs, needing a strikeout to end the game with the bases loaded.
