Diamondbacks Win Ugly Game over Cardinals 11-7

In one of the sloppiest games of the young season, the Cardinals dropped an 11-7 decision to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday night at Busch Stadium. Cards starting pitcher Carlos Martinez struggled again, allowing four runs in five innings of work. Arizona built a 9-2 lead with heavy hitting off Cards reliever Jonathan Broxton. He allowed five runs and only retired one Diamondback player. The Cardinals turned to infield Ruben Tejada to pitch the 9th inning. He allowed back to back home runs to Chris Herrmann and Brandon Drury, making it an 11-2 game. The Cardinals would not go away, scoring five runs in the 9th. before Diamondbacks relief pitcher Jake Barrett got Matt Carpenter to fly out to center field to finally end the game.
