ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO (KTVI) – The Metropolitan Sewer District is working to repair a force main sewer break that occurred Monday night at Jamestown Mall.

A mall security officer noticed the break and reported it to MSD.

MSD had to shut down the nearby pump station to allow crews to make repairs. As a result, an undetermined amount of sewage has spilled into Coldwater Creek.

The spill poses no immediate threat to public health or safety and sewer service to homes and businesses in the area will not be affected. However, should anyone come into contact with an overflow, they should wash thoroughly with soap and water.

An MSD spokesperson said the sewer main break and manhole overflows have been reported to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
