JENNINGS, MO (KTVI) – The Jennings City Council voted Tuesday night to impeach Mayor Yolonda Fountain-Henderson.  The impeachment is effective immediately.

Council members considered seven counts of misconduct in voting for the impeachment.  On four of the counts, the council voted unanimously. In the three other counts, a majority voted to oust the sitting mayor.

Mayor Fountain-Henderson can appeal the decision. She says the impeachment proceedings are the result of a political feud. She and the council have been at odds over city employees and perks since she was elected in April 2015.

A news conference is planned for Wednesday to release more information.
