EUREKA, MO (KTVI) - Eureka, Missouri was named the best small town in America, due to its spirit of family and togetherness. The town was declared the winner of Destination America and USA Today's 'Red, White, and You' contest.

Police chief Mike Wiegant and Dr. Pat Feder, president of the Eureka Chamber of Commerce, attribute the win to how the residents came together to help each other during last year's flooding.

To celebrate, the town will hold a Fourth of July celebration on Saturday, July 2nd. Eureka's Independence Day celebrations usually host about 3,500 residents, but this year they are expecting 10,000. The celebration will be bigger and better than ever before, and will include enhanced fireworks, extra bands, and an expanded children's area.
