ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - Memorial Day marks the unofficial start of summer. But before you jump into the pool, you may want to find out what's swimming with you. St. Louis University germ expert Donna Duburg discussed the results of a new CDC study on pools.

The study found that nearly 80 percent of public pools have at least one health infraction when inspected and a major reason was cryptosporidium, a parasite that is not susceptible to chlorine.

Duburg recommends asking pool managers how often the water is inspected and checking the acidity of the water before you take the plunge this summer.
