JENNINGS, MO (KTVI) - Tuesday’s unanimous vote to impeach Mayor Yolanda Fountain- Henderson is effective immediately. The move comes after 15 hours of investigation and testimony.  Seven of the 19 allegations made against Henderson stuck. The city says Henderson abused her power by doing everything from suing the city to getting access to confidential employee records, hiring contractors without city approval and accusing city workers of fraud.  Francine Dugger is now the acting mayor; she says change is on the way.

The impeachment is the first for the city since it was founded in 1946. The acting mayor will be in place until a special election is held in November. At this point there’s no word on the cost of the impeachment process.  As for Henderson she can appeal the decision.
