Hitchcock returning to coach Blues in 2016-17 season

ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – The St. Louis Blues have signed coach Ken Hitchcock to a one-year contract extension; he will return to the bench for the club next season.

Hitchcock and Blues General Manager Doug Armstrong met with reporters Tuesday morning for a review of this past season.

Hitchcock, 64, guided the Blues to five consecutive playoff berths, including the team’s first trip to the Western Conference Finals in 15 years.

This will be Hitchcock’s sixth season with the Blues and 20th as an NHL head coach. Hitchcock has a 224-103-36 record as Blues head coach, the best winning percentage in franchise history.
