ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – Tuesday 26 new U.S. Citizens took the oath of allegiance at the Old Courthouse on this Flag Day.

Alan Alyas from the Kurdish region of Iraq, was one of 26 people taking the oath of allegiance.

Flag Day, that commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States on June 14th 1777 by the Second Continental Congress.

The National Park Service celebrating 100 years of service, held more than 100 naturalization ceremonies nationwide.

But for Felipe George who came to St. Louis from the Philippines in 1990, Tuesday afternoon`s ceremony seemed fitting under a giant flag in the same courthouse where fought for his freedom in 1847 and again in 1850.
