CLAYTON, MO (KTVI) – The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged a 49-year-old city resident for allegedly driving drunk and killing a passenger in a November 2015 crash.
According to court documents, the accident took place November 21 around 2 a.m. in the 6900 block of Jamestown Way Drive. A vehicle had struck a signal pole at the intersection.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a woman, 34-year-old Lakeisha Jones, lying near the damaged car. Jones was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses told police they saw the driver run away from the scene. Officers made contact with the suspect, identified as Rodney Harris, a short time later and brought him to a hospital to be treated for his own injuries. Harris admitted to driving the vehicle and consuming alcohol before doing so.
Harris was charged June 7 with one count of first-degree involuntary manslaughter and one count of leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident.
However, authorities said Harris is not in custody.
