ST. PETERS, MO (KTVI) – City of St. Peters employees discovered Thursday morning that vandals hit at Laurel Park.

According to a city spokesperson, someone set fire to a tunnel beneath a gazebo and burned it from end to end.

If the structure is found to be unstable, the city will knock the gazebo down and rebuild it – a process that could cost St. Peters thousands of dollars. The entire area has been fenced off around the children's play area and will stay that way until full repairs can be made.

If you have information on the case, you’re asked to call the St. Peters Police Department at 636-278-1000.
