ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)- The St. Louis Blues will take part in one of four games that kick off the NHL season on Wednesday, October 12. They will face the rival Blackhawks on the road in Chicago at the United Center. The team will then return to St. Louis for their home opener the very next day, Thursday, October 13, against the Minnesota Wild at Scottrade Center.
The season starts later because of the return of the World Cup of Hockey, which takes place September 17-October 1, 2016, in Toronto.
The Blues will be celebrating the team’s 50th anniversary season will participate in an outdoor game for the first time. They will host to the Blackhawks in the 2017 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic at Busch Stadium on Jan. 2.
