The Cardinals will be without their rookie shortstop for a few days. Diaz fouled a pitch that hit the ground and bounced up and hit his eye in Monday night's loss to the Royals in Kansas City. Fox 2 Sports reporter Charlie Marlow was in Kansas City for this series and saw Diaz before the game. Diaz's eye is very swollen, but after a trip to the hospital last night for examination and x-rays, no broken bones were found and no concussion was diagnosed. So when the swelling goes down around Diaz's right eye, he will be back in the lineup for the Cards. Greg Garcia will start in Diaz's place on Tuesday night against the Royals.
