Car slams into tractor trailer on EB I-70 in St. Clair County, IL

ST. CLAIR COUNTY, ILLINOIS (KTVI)- Police are investigating after a car crashed into a tractor trailer Tuesday morning in St. Clair County, Illinois. It happened around 9:15 a.m. on eastbound Interstate 70 and the Stan Musial Veteran's Memorial Bridge.

According to Illinois State Police, the driver of the car was traveling eastbound on the bridge when he slammed into the semi, which was stopped on the shoulder. The vehicle became wedged underneath the truck.

The man, whose condition is unknown, was transported to the hospital for treatment.  Authorities say the driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.

The eastbound portion of the interstate is open but traffic is currently reduced to one lane.
