Pevely woman killed while standing on I-55

JEFFERSON COUNTY, MO (KTVI) – A 31-year old Pevely woman was killed late Monday night while standing on Interstate 55, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

According to state police, the accident occurred just before 11:35 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-55 near mile marker 183.4.

A 2009 freightliner was traveling northbound when the vehicle struck Kerensa Scanlon, who was standing in the right-hand lane. Scanlon was pronounced dead less than 15 minutes later by Rock Township EMS Personnel.

The driver of the freightliner, a 61-year old Tennessee man, was not injured in the accident.
