ST. CHARLES, MO (KTVI) - Police unveil prescription drug drop-off vault Wednesday. The vault is located inside their police station on Zumbehl road.

The vault is part of the DEA's battle against prescription drug abuse. The vault gives people a safe and secure location available 24/7 to dispose of unused medications. Authorities hope the vault will reduce unintended drug use, while saving the environment.

Medications should never flushed down the city's sewer system. The system cannot remove these medicines from water that is released into lakes and rivers.
