Jaime Garcia did it all for the Cardinals on Friday night at Busch Stadium, pitching and hitting his way to 1 -0 win over the Atlanta Braves. Garcia drove in the game’s only run with a single in the second inning. The Cardinals had only two hits in the game, singles by Garcia and Stephen Piscotty, but that’s all the offense they’d need. Garcia pitched eight shutout innings, allowing just three hits while striking out 11 Braves. Garcia got the win to even his record at 8-8 on the season. Garcia becomes just the fifth pitcher in franchise history to drive in the game’s only run and pitch a shutout in a 1-0 win.

Seung Hwan Oh pitched a perfect ninth inning to notch his ninth save of the year.
