Police looking for mother of abandoned baby found in north St. Louis building

UPDATE: The child’s mother has been found. Police are investigating this case.

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – Police are looking for the mother of an abandoned 8-month-old baby. Police found the baby and the woman he was left with in an abandoned building in north St. Louis.

The Division of Family Services says that they were contacted Thursday by a 28-year-old woman. She said the mom left the baby with her about two weeks ago, and never returned.

DFS has contacted the police to investigate the case. Juvenile Detectives went to a vacant building in the 2700 block of Mills and located the woman and took custody of the baby.

The baby to the hospital for a well being check. The baby was then placed in the custody of DFS. The investigation is ongoing.
