Armed robbers fire shots inside Granite City Waffle House

GRANITE CITY, IL (KTVI) - The search is on for two suspects who fired a shot inside a Metro-East Waffle House during an armed robbery. The hold-up left both employees and customers shaken.

Customers were inside the restaurant at 4:30am Friday when two men in ski masks came to the door. One went inside and announced the robbery. The other stood outside holding people in the parking lot at gunpoint.

The thief inside fired a shot toward an empty booth, in an apparent attempt to prove they were serious. A handful of customers were sitting across from that booth.

The suspects are described as two black males, six feet tall. One was wearing a camo shirt and tan pants. THE suspect was wearing a black thermal shirt, black pants with a white stripe down each leg.

The robbers got away with an undisclosed amount of cash. Anyone with information should call the Madison County Sheriff`S Department. The Sheriff also has an anonymous tip line: (618-296-3000).
