FERGUSON, MO (KTVI) - Ferguson residents are getting ready for back-to-school with Unity Day.

The second annual Unity Weekend is sponsored by Aetna and Trinity Christian Community Church.

The event gave backpacks away to students.

The goal this year is to encourage interaction between all who support Ferguson; and to provide for 15-thousand students in the Riverview Gardens and Ferguson-Florissant School Districts with school supplies.

Council woman Ella Jones spearheaded the effort.

A host of volunteers also made the event possible.
