Fenton Wastewater Treatment Plant

FENTON, Mo. (AP) – A suburban St. Louis wastewater treatment plant is fully operational again, prompting the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District to lift its advisory against recreation in the lower Meramec River.

The district says it has repaired the ultraviolet process at the Fenton plant. The ultraviolet process is the last of three treatments. Heavy storms on Aug. 15 overwhelmed the Fenton plant’s ultraviolet treatment building.

MSD, at the time, advised against recreational activity in the lower Meramec until the process was restored.
