ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)-A Metro East couple who asked their wedding guests to help save the life of a critically ill child from Honduras in lieu of gifts got a chance to meet the twenty month old little girl named Genesis this week at the Ronald McDonald House.

Genesis is in dire need of heart surgery. India and Eric Johnson and their children visited with the toddler and her parents Wednesday evening to wish them well. The couple started an online fundraiser account on CrowdRise to benefit Genesis through the World Pediatric Project, which brings critically ill children from Central America and the Caribbean for life-saving surgeries.

Genesis will undergo surgery at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital in a couple of weeks.
