ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – The Cardinals have placed right handed pitcher Mike Leake on the 15 day disabled list.  A case of the shingles has flared up again.

The team is calling up left-handed reliever Dean Kiekhefer from Memphis. He will join the ram for tonight’s opener in Milwaukee.

This is the third time this season that Kiekhefer has been recalled by the Cardinals. He has appeared in 15 games and pitched a total of 14 innings. No one was able to score on him during his last seven appearances.

Mike Leake’s placement on the disabled list is retroactive to August 22.
