North Carolina Outscores the Illini 48-23

The North Carolina Tar Heels came in to Champaign, IL on Saturday night and out scored the Fighting Illini 48-23. Illinois grabbed an early lead on Ke’Shawn Vaughn’s 65 yard touchdown run to make it 7-0 in the first quarter. A Wes Lunt 15 yard TD pass to Kendrick Foster put Illinois up 14-7. Then the Tar Heels offense took over. North Carolina quarterback Mitch Trubisky threw for two scores and running back Elijah Hood ran for two more to bolster the 48 point outburst.

The loss drops Illinois’ season record to 1-1.
