ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – This year, Thomas’ Breakfast Battle is taking their nationwide competition to the road with the Food Truck Edition.

Thomas’ Breakfast Battle is challenging competitors to create the ultimate breakfast recipe from the cuisine on their food truck. These recipes are one-of-a-kind using Thomas’ products as their main ingredient.

September is National Breakfast Month, so these new breakfast recipes are great ideas for people to recreate at their home.

From the 50 food trucks around the country competing in this year’s competition, Yo! Salsa Food Truck John Lutgen joined us today to share more about the competition.

Yo! Salsa Food Truck creates food items that have a fresh, modern Latin flavor.  John Lutgen talked about his creation, the Desayuno Carne Asada. John went through the simple steps to recreate this recipe at home.

Viewers and fans can visit Thomas’ Breakfast Battle  starting September 12th until September 18th at 7 p.m. to have a say to who makes it to the next round. After the first week, competition will go down to just 25 trucks and voting will continue for trucks still in the running.

The competition is a five-week period and viewers can vote once a day for their favorite recipe and each time will be entered in to a sweepstakes for a chance to win $5000 plus free Thomas’ products. The grand prize winner of the Thomas’ Breakfast Battle will win $25,000.
