ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – The weather may be cooling down, but the housing market in St. Louis is still hot this fall. Typically, spring and summer seasons are scorching times for the housing market. With so many people relocating during these months, the spring and summer markets are often defined by fierce competition between buyers. But the fall presents buyers with a number of new opportunities.

With houses receiving anywhere from 2-15 offers on average, many buyers were unable to secure a home during this summer. As a result, disheartened house-hunters stepped away from the market at the end of season. But with houses still up for grabs, fall gives buyers the opportunity to re-enter the market. The fresh season provides a new set of inventory for buyers. Additionally, the decrease in competition makes it much easier for buyers to negotiate on price points with sellers.

Realtor Kathy Helbig dropped by the FOX 2 studio this morning to discuss what home-buyers can expect from the housing market this fall.
