ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)-The BackStoppers Membership Campaign is inviting St. Louis community members to become a part of this organization.  BackStoppers uses annual membership dues as well as donations to support the families of fallen first-responders. After a loss of life, BackStoppers provides money for emergency expenses, medical insurance, educational costs, and other needs families may have. With membership dues received, the organization distributes nearly $1.5 million each year to families of first responders who are injured or died in the line of duty. The organization currently supports 79 families with 65 dependent children.

Membership is open to everyone, civilian and first-responder alike. Annual membership dues range from $150 to $10,000 and are tax deductible.

St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar took a break from registering new members in the FOX 2 Call Center to discuss the campaign as well as the impact the organization has on the community.
