Cardinals fans probably said goodbye to long time left fielder Matt Holliday on Sunday at Busch Stadium. The Redbirds finished one game out of the playoffs and with the team announcing they will not pick up Holliday's 17 million dollar option for 2017, Holliday appears done as a Cardinal.
Cardinals manager Mike Matheny had Holiday go into the game in the top of the ninth inning to take his usual spot in left field. He got a huge ovation from the St. Louis crowd. After one pitch, Holliday was removed from the game, leaving the Busch Stadium field to another big round of applause.
Fox 2 Sports Director Martin Kilcoyne talked with Holliday after the game about his time with the Cardinals and what is next for his baseball future.
