TROY, MO (KTVI) – A Troy police officer resigned amid allegations of having a sexual relationship with a minor.

According to Det. Tony Stewart, a spokesman for the Troy Police Department, a tipster alerted authorities on June 28 of an officer engaging in inappropriate contact with a teenage girl. Once Troy police substantiated the claims, investigators contacted the Missouri State Highway Patrol to handle the case.

The department said it has fully cooperated with the state police investigation since then.

With the state police handling the investigation, the accused officer, identified as 39-year-old Marc Dody, was placed on unpaid suspension. Dody submitted his resignation on July 5; it was accepted the following day.

Investigators said Dody admitted to having sexual intercourse on at least three occasions between January 1 and June 30 of 2016. Dody said he met the victim at a pizza parlor in Troy and later made contact with her on Facebook.

Dody said he had sex with the teenager at a park in Troy, in a Wentzville parking lot, and at his Overland residence, state police said. Dody was made aware of the victim’s age on more than one occasion.

The Lincoln County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Dody with second-degree statutory rape on October 21. He remains jailed on $75,000 cash-only bond. If convicted, Dody faces between 2 and 7 years in prison.
