Police investigating fatal shooting in East St. Louis

EAST ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – East St. Louis police and the Illinois State Police are investigating a deadly shooting in East St. Louis.  The shooting happened just after 2:30 pm at Bunkum and 43rd Street near the Roosevelt public housing complex.

East St. Louis police say they responded to a call for shots fired at 2:37 pm in the area of the Roosevelt public housing complex.  Upon arrival to the scene police found 31-year-old Kevin D. Johnson outside suffering from gunshot wounds.  He was transported to St. Louis University Hospital where he later died from his injuries.

At this time there are no suspects or motive for the shooting.

Police are asking for anyone with information on the shooting to call the East St. Louis Police Department at 618-482-6767.

An investigation is ongoing.
