ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)- It’s always good to be number one, except when it comes to our next subject.

A new study shows St. Louis has been designated as the worst city in the United States when it comes to sexually transmitted diseases, STDs.

According to our partners at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the city topped the list for chlamydia and gonorrhea cases per capita. The rankings are skewed, partly because the city is mostly compared with counties in the data.

If the entire metropolitan area is included, the St. Louis Region ranks 8th for gonorrhea and 17th for chlamydia.

Dr. Mira Aubuchon of the Missouri Center for Reproductive Medicine tells us the cause and what can be done about prevention.
