FRANKLIN COUNTY, MO (KTVI) - The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis was activated Thursday morning after the body of a man was discovered in Franklin County.  The body, a Caucasian male, was discovered around 8 a.m. on Elmwood Drive in Washington, Missouri.   The victim has been identified as 70-year-old Kenneth Allen Jr.

A crime scene in a quiet neighborhood. Investigators aren't yet sure how the man died. There are no signs of a shooting, beating or stabbing. But there are several factors that make this suspicious.

Police say Allen lived alone. An acquaintance found him dead in his home, on the floor, just inside the front door at around 8:15am Thursday.

There's a bit of a back story here. Allen's drug counselling business, the Meramec Recovery Center sued Franklin County in August. They accused the county of forcing drug offenders to become informants for the sheriff's department. The suit alleges that when Allen complained, he lost his contract with the county.
