ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - Construction crews are entering the final stretch of the Grand Blvd. project in South St. Louis City. It centers around bridge where Grand crosses I-44.

On Thursday, MoDOT says it will reopen Lafayette Avenue, the connecting street between westbound I-44 and Grand. It has been closed off forcing drivers to detour.

But this weekend, MoDOT crews will close Grand over I-44 in both directions from 6 a.m. untilĀ 2 p.m. Drivers will have to use Vandeventer, Chouteau and Jefferson Avenue to get around the closure.

Crews will remove median barrier to reopen the stretch of road with two traffic lanes in both directions and bike lanes.

When Grand reopens Saturday afternoon, drivers will not be able to turn left onto westbound I-44 from northbound Grand, or turn left onto eastbound I-44 from southbound Grand until the work on the median is complete.

The work schedule depends on the weather, but all lanes are scheduled to reopen December 1st.
