SSM Health Medical Minute: Level 1 Stroke Center at St. Clare Hospital

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - The state of Missouri did update their list of Level 1 stroke centers this week. SSM Health Hospitals has three Level 1 stroke centers in the Region, including the newest designation at St. Clare Hospital in Fenton. Level 1 stroke centers impact stroke patients by providing the fastest, highest technology to give stroke patients the best chance to attain their quality of life.

Dr. Ashish Nanda, neurologist at SSM Health St. Clare Hospital tells us the combination of advanced technology includes imaging combined with a new retrievable stenting procedure that has remarkable results for stroke victims. “When it comes to stroke, every patient is different and every second impacts successful treatment of their condition”, explains Dr. Nanda. “My goal is to provide timely care to all my patients, using the best available treatment, giving them the best chance to attain better quality of life.”

Dr. Nanda has special medical interests in acute stroke and neuro-interventional therapies, including clot retrieval along with intra-arterial therapies, aneurysm coiling, intracranial and carotid stenting, AVM embolization, intra and extracranial tumor embolization, and spinal angiograms. He also has extensive experience with inpatient stroke management and in opening and running stroke/TIA clinics.
